Job Title: Junior Mechatronics Engineer

Location: Remote (across Canada)

Duration: 8 weeks (Summer Contract)

Hours: Full time, 4-day work week with full 5-day pay

Salary: $18.00 to $25.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)

On the Canada Summer Jobs grant eligibility criteria:
– Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.

Job Overview:

As a Junior Mechatronics Engineer, you will be at the heart of our most exciting projects, where creativity and technical skills intersect to construct innovative educational experiences. If you’re passionate about mechanical engineering and robotics development with a flair for either hardware or software, this is the role for you.

This role involves contributing to numerous initiatives across Steamlabs, including programming industrial robotics for the Robot Puppet Theatre, developing custom mechatronics for science centre exhibits, and working on space robotics experiences. It will also involve aiding web developers in creating additional experiences related to our popular Make: AI Robots book.

Responsibilities include:

– Lend your skills to the planning, design, and production of interactive educational experiences.
– Aid in the development of robotics experiences, involving industrial robotics programming and mechatronics development.
– Assist web developers in creating additional experiences based on the Make: AI Robots book, providing insights and advice as necessary.

As a Junior Mechatronics Engineer at Steamlabs, your contributions will not only enhance the learning potential of AI-driven educational tools but also shape the landscape of STEM education in Canada and beyond.

Qualifications and Skills:

– Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering program.
– Passionate about hardware or software aspects of mechatronics.
– Basic understanding of robotics development is a must.
– Comfortable with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and troubleshoot issues.
– Strong team player who can also work independently.
– Excellent communication skills.
