Job Overview:

Steamlabs is seeking a creative and collaborative entry-level or student 3D Designer & Animator to join our diverse and supportive team. In this role, you will develop 3D assets and animations for Climate Hero (https://climatehero.ca), an online game for kids themed around taking action on climate change. You will work closely with the Design Lead and the rest of the development team, using cutting-edge AI tools such as DALLE to create content for the game. We will provide training on these tools to help you excel in your role.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with Design Lead and the team to develop a consistent look for the web-based game
  • Produce characters, props, location designs, and animations in formats specified by the game development team
  • Create user interface elements for the web-based game
  • Develop templates for DALLE and other AI to iterate graphics (we’ll teach you!)
  • Contribute to the game’s storytelling and participate in various other art tasks (illustrations, cover art, layout, mock-ups, etc.)
  • Complete other operational tasks related to your role (e.g., project organization and researching new information)

The skills and experience we are looking for include:

  • Education or training in 3D Modeling, Art, and Animation (diploma, current student completing year 2 or more of a diploma program, or 1+ years of work experience)
  • Experience with Autodesk Maya
  • Experience creating and animating 3D assets for video game or web development
  • Proven teamwork and collaboration skills

Bonus Skills and Experience:

  • Graphic design, UI, UX experience
  • Skills from a different job than the one you are applying for, such as web development, coding, or Artificial Intelligence
  • Experience teaching and/or developing educational programs and activities
