Join us every Wednesday at STEAMLabs and learn how to code your very own comic strip! This program is perfect for kids who are enthusiastic about storytelling and eager to learn graphic design and web design.
Over the course of 7 weeks, kids will have the opportunity to storyboard their very own narrative on paper and then use a computer to make it come to life. First, they’ll use a beginner-friendly paint tool called Pixlr to develop a better understanding of 2D drawing styles and to create their very own assets for their comic strip. Once all of the characters and scenes have been drawn, they’ll use Mozilla Thimble and two coding languages called HTML & CSS to code each panel together to make full length comic strip!
By the end of the program, each kid will have an original online comic strip that they can share with their family and friends.
Participants will learn how to:
- Write compelling stories
- Plan and design story boards
- Draw 2D characters and scenes using Pixlr
- Code in HTML & CSS using Mozilla Thimble
